Use Across the Curriculum
Video clips can be viewed multiple times to illustrate different points, or additional clips of the same client can be utilized over time to meet different learning objectives. Many curricula build upon foundational skills and expect more complex analytic, evaluative or creative skills demonstrated by the learner over time.
Foundational Courses / Year One
Upper Extremity Observations of Motor Control
This menu of possible learning objectives can be used to build foundational skills in the learner, often taught in the first several semesters of a program.
After viewing the video, the learner will be able to:
Summarize specific therapeutic techniques demonstrated by the therapist
Explain therapeutic use of self, demonstrated by the therapist
Summarize client strengths and deficits
Execute an activity analysis of the client activity
Identify models of practice and/or frames of reference used by the therapist in the case
Describe safety considerations for this client in the current setting
Identify appropriate questions for the client and/or family to develop an occupational profile

Determine additional assessments relevant for the client in next practice setting, considering appropriate continuum of care
Infer the specific types of clinical reasoning utilized by the therapist (i.e., scientific, procedural, pragmatic, narrative, interactive, conditional, ethical)
Generate an intervention plan for the next session with this client (may include different activities than those viewed in case)
Explain how models of practice and/or frames of reference are used in development of an intervention plan for the next session with this client
Write an initial evaluation, including short-term (or long-term) goals for the client, based on current performance
Complete documentation for this session (e.g. progress note)
Organize information from case and present the case in a format suitable for a team (or family) meeting
